Distance TEACHING and LEARNING have emphasized the need for relationships and active participation within the pupil’s class. These are activities that involve each single student in actions that allow his active and constructive processing of the contents, the development of procedural and practical thinking and its integration with notional and theoretical thinking. They require teacher’s fundamental attitude, which is related to communication and the relationship with the students:the availability to listen , the wise use of breaks and silence, the ability to encourage communication and to support the interactions both on the emotional and cognitive level.
The challenge is to design an interoperable system (based on open standards) and tools to enable empathic TEACHING and ACTIVE learning.
